Wakefield Park to be renamed to One Raceway.

After facing a legal setback that led to its indefinite closure, the iconic racetrack near Goulburn is preparing for a triumphant return. Formerly known as Wakefield Park, the facility will now sport a fresh identity as One Raceway, marking a new chapter under the ownership of Steve Shelley.

Since its closure on September 1, 2022, the fate of Wakefield Park has been uncertain, leaving racing enthusiasts eagerly awaiting news of its revival. With the approval of the Goulburn Mulwaree Council, plans are underway to reopen the track by mid-2024, promising an exhilarating experience for drivers and spectators alike. Under the stewardship of Mr Shelley, who also owns the nearby Pheasant Wood Circuit (formerly known as Marulan), Wakefield Park is undergoing extensive renovations to ensure compliance with the noise level and safety regulations. Key modifications include the construction of new southern and northern walls, which not only serve as noise barriers but also provide optimal viewing points for spectators.

In collaboration with Motorsport Australia and Motorcycling Australia, the track will undergo enhancements such as revamped pit exits, improved track corners, light panels, and advanced timing systems. Additionally, a comprehensive resurfacing project, along with the installation of an advanced drainage system, is underway to ensure optimal track conditions. Perhaps the most groundbreaking change on the horizon is the modification to enable the track to be run in either direction. Once completed, One Raceway will be the first dual-direction circuit in Australia, offering an unparalleled experience for drivers and enhancing safety protocols with upgraded turn designs.

Excitement is building as the countdown to the reopening of One Raceway begins - this iconic motorsport destination is preparing to welcome enthusiasts back to the track with open arms.
